Christmas Child Project
This Christmas, be the hands and feet of Jesus by bringing tangible hope to a child who needs it most. Your decision to give goes far beyond a single holiday moment and can make a lasting impact for generations to come.
Every act of kindness makes a difference!
Join us for a Volunteer Information Meeting on Sunday, October 25, at 12:15pm, following the 11:00am service.
Program Overview
-
The Christmas Child Project is a special opportunity to share the love of Christ with children and families in our community during the Christmas season. Through gifts, service, and generosity, we can bring hope, joy, and encouragement to those who need it most. This program is about reaching children and their families where they are and connecting them with a life changing relationship with Jesus.
-
The program is coordinated through Bel Air Church in Encino, California.
-
As part of our Los Angeles Rebuild programming, applications from our partners in the San Fernando Valley and Altadena were completed. We also received applications from some of our church family and friends. If you know of a family in need, please reach out to media@belair.com for application information.
-
There are several meaningful ways to participate:
· Adopt a child and shop for gifts!
· Volunteer your time!
· Become a sponsor, individual or corporate!
· Help spread the word about the program!
Adopting a Child
-
When you adopt a child for Christmas, you will receive information about a specific child and have the opportunity to purchase four gifts based on their needs and wish list. It is a personal and rewarding way to make Christmas special for a child and family. Each card contains the age, sex, name, favorite colors, and sizes with the request for four different items: something to wear; something to read; something they like; something they need.
-
The Christmas Child Project focuses on the personal experience of selecting gifts for a specific child and actively participating in serving others. This hands-on approach helps create a meaningful connection, provides dignity for the family, and allows participants to directly bless a child through receiving the love of Christ from the generosity of our church.
-
Child adoption begins on November 1st and continues through November 22nd.
-
Stop by the Christmas Child Project table during the adoption period to choose a child’s card and receive gift instructions.
Shopping and Gift Requirements
-
Each child's information includes suggested gifts, needs, and sizes when available. We encourage participants to purchase thoughtful, age-appropriate items that will bring joy and encouragement to the child.
-
Unfortunately, we ask all our sponsors not to place gift tags on the gifts that we provide our families. This helps preserve the dignity of the families and allows us to let the gifts come from God and not a single person or family.
-
Gift Collection Days will be from 8:30am to 1:00pm at Bel Air Church on two Sundays.
· November 29
· December 6
These collection dates help us prepare and organize gifts for distribution to families.
Please make sure your gifts are:
Wrapped without gift tags.
Placed in clear bags following the instructions on the back of your Adoption Card.
Accompanied by your Adoption Card inside the bag.
Family and Group Participation
-
Yes, absolutely! At Bel Air Church, we believe in investing in the next generation, and this outreach is completely kid friendly. We encourage parents to use this opportunity to teach children the joy of giving by having them “adopt” a child for Christmas.
Here are a few meaningful ways to make this a special family experience:
· Share the Meaning: Talk to your child about how God calls us to love our neighbors and what it means to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
· Shop Together: Make a day out of letting your child personally pick out the gifts for the boy or girl they are sponsoring.
· Wrap with Love: Have your child help wrap the gifts by holding the tape, adding a bow, or writing a sweet note.
Children learn how to serve others best by watching their parents lead the way. We hope this is a wonderful, hands-on experience for your family to share God is love this holiday season!
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” I Timothy 4:12
-
Yes! Corporate sponsors, ministry teams, schools, community groups, and small groups are welcome to partner with us. Participating together is a wonderful way to make an even greater impact.
-
There are volunteer and sponsorship opportunities available. We would love to help you find a way to participate that works best for you.
Volunteering
-
Absolutely! Volunteers are a vital part of the Christmas Child Project. There are opportunities to assist with sign-ups, collection days, gift sorting, deliveries, and Family Pick-Up Day.
-
Join us for a Volunteer Information Meeting on Sunday, October 25, at 12:15pm, following the 11:00am service.
-
Family Pick-Up Day is a special time when families receive their Christmas gifts. Children will enjoy cookie decorating and craft activities while parents receive and load gifts into their cars. Volunteers are needed to support both children and parents at each location.
