Outreach: Missional Engagement

Our commitment is to bring you opportunities, in both physical and digital environments, to missionally engage in what God is doing in our city and around the world – every day, everywhere, and with everyone.

Union Rescue Mission is one of the nation’s largest providers of continuous emergency shelter services for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. URM also offers Hope Gardens, a transitional housing campus for single mothers and their children.

To learn more and hear the heart behind the mission, watch this video from URM’s CEO, Rev. Andy Bales.

DONATE like-new items to URM guests: clothing & shoes for all ages, children’s toys/games/books, household appliances & kitchenware, blankets, etc. Items may be dropped-off @ Bel Air Church: Sundays-Fridays, 9a-5p.

SERVE hot meals 3x/day to URM guests or engage in relationship through a mentor “companion” program (e.g. connect via phone or Zoom to pray and encourage).

CREATE “Love Your Neighbor” care packages at home. These packs are great to have in your car for times when you encounter an individual in need at a freeway exit, grocery store, and such. Suggested items: bottle of water, granola bar, socks, soap/sanitizer, toothbrush & toothpaste, handwritten note/scripture, Gospel of John booklet (can be found on Amazon), etc.

CarePortal bridges your help during our crisis. Whether it’s a bunk bed or boys’ shoes, groceries or girls’ clothing, home repairs, or home-cooked meals, YOU have a gift that will bless a child in need.

BECOME A RESPONDER to be notified of needs and provide immediate prayer, help, and hope.

Even more, the mission offers programs that foster transformation through spiritual growth, life skills, career development, mentors, housing, and community.

Monday Night Mission brings you into conversation with our Mission Partners around the world. What are their challenges, how does God sustain them, and how may you engage?

In our first forum, we heard from Pastor James Byensi in the Democratic Republic of the Congo regarding the guerrilla warfare, staggering violence, and millions of displaced refugees that surrounds them.

WATCH the recorded Zoom, share it, and stay tuned for upcoming sessions.

PRAY for protection, discernment, and resources throughout the DRC and for Pastor James.

BE AN ADVOCATE and write letters to U.S. companies, media, government representatives.
